Apparatus for measuring the degassing rate on fusion-related materials

The Vacuum and Surfaces Laboratory has an apparatus that can measure the degassing rate of gaseous impurities contained in different material specimens as a function of the temperature of the material.

The apparatus was designed to operate in ultra high vacuum (UHV) conditions and can measure the degassing rate by pumping the gas out of the measurement chamber through a known conductance and monitoring the partial and total pressure.

The apparatus can be used in all the fields of activity requiring specific knowledge of the behaviour of materials to be used in an ultra high vacuum ambient and at high temperatures.
