Feedback Control system for plasma equilibrium in fusion research devices

The FTU feedback control system is based on two main subsystems: the Magnetic Measurement System (MMS) and the Position and Plasma Current Regulation System.
The first subsystem is in charge of the analog-digital acquisition and the elaboration of the measurements to calculate the magnetic flux distribution and plasma position on vertical and horizontal axis. Moreover plasma position displacements with respect to the pre-programmed values are calculated and given in input to the second subsystem. This implements four PID digital controllers to give the current references for the electrical power generators. The whole digital controller has a total control cycle time < 0.5 ms.
