Function, Scope of Supply:

The system includes all the RH transfer casks that allow a semi-automatic transfer of any activated components removed from the interior of the vacuum vessel and its transfer to the Hot Cell Facility for maintenance or disposal

The actual container has to insure contamination confinement through special double doors that are docking first on the VV ports and then on the corresponding docking stations at the Hot Cell Facility.

The container is moved on air-cushion unit that can be remotely controlled and follow a predefined path

 

Description, Technologies :

The system consists of the following main elements for each RH Transfer Cask

·        The containment structure of the cask (frame and stainless steel lining)

·        The sealing double-door system

·        The air-cushion transfer unit

·        A set of tools for robotized maintenance inside the cask

·        The system for the remote control of the cask (movement and docking-undocking functions)

·        The remote control of the tools for robotised maintenance functions inside the cask

·        The elements of mechanical interface between the casks and the Hot Cells Facility and the equivalent mechanical interfaces with the machine ports.

This system shall have to be operational at the end of the machine construction to allow the start of simulation and validation of maintenance processes prior to the start of nuclear grade operation.

The areas of engineering involved are:

·        Development of RH methods & procedures

·        Development of RH Equipment design
